This May 27-28, 2022 The George Floyd Memorial Center will seek to initiate the first steps from perpetual trauma to global transformation.

The tragedy of George Floyd’s untimely death is a story that moved the world to face the continued inequalities in many underserved communities in our nation and across the globe. The mission of the George Floyd Memorial Center is to promote racial, social, and economic justice. At the heart of this mission is the wellbeing of these underserved communities. How do we address the health, wealth, and education inequities? We do so by bringing together professionals in these fields, along with community stakeholders to ask the right questions, produce action goals, then put into practice actionable solutions.

May 25, 2022 marks the second anniversary of the death of George Floyd. May 25th has been dubbed the “Day of Enlightenment” by the George Floyd Memorial Center (5/25 D.O.E.). A special program featuring the Urbanistic Art segment of the center, will be presented on that day, as well as an opportunity to share personal sentiments of how the death of George changed you.

On May 27 and 28th, the center will host its 1st Annual Weekend of Enlightenment, featuring the GFMC Golf Tournament on Friday at Lochmere Golf Club in Cary, NC. and a conference and gala, Saturday at the Marriott Crabtree in Raleigh, NC.

The vision of the George Floyd Memorial Center, through its programs, is to uplift, empower, and positively impact the lives of individuals in the communities we serve, leading to deeper understanding between members of the community, personal growth, and emotional and financial prosperity for families. Moving from perpetual trauma to transformation will move communities of lack to communities of opportunity. By bringing together community stakeholders, health, wealth, and education professionals, as well as those with resources to activate these measures, the George Floyd Memorial Center and its partners will lead the charge in creating and executing the transformation our society needs and desires.

Covid-19 Protocols

The George Floyd Memorial Center takes the health and safety of our event attendees, volunteers, staff, and partner organizations very seriously, therefore, we will be enacting COVID-19 measures intended for the sole purpose of keeping attendees as safe as possible.

For the golf tournament , conference, and gala The George Floyd Memorial Center will require all attendees to wear masks at all indoor programming and meetings, regardless of their vaccination status, except when actively eating or drinking.

We are offering a virtual attendance option for the conference and gala entertainment. If you feel ill or are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms or have recently come in contact with someone who has tested positive, please do not attend and instead take advantage of our virtual offering.

We will continue to follow the latest guidance from the CDC and the Wake County Department of Public Health and will adjust these measures in the future as needed.
