1974 - 2020

George was born October 14, 1974 in Fayetteville, NC.  He was the third child of the late George Perry, Sr. and Larcenia “Cissy” Jones Floyd.

George was raised in Houston, TX. He attended Yates High School where he was a football and basketball standout. At a height of 6’ 7”, with a kind heart and quiet personality, he was considered a gentle giant. Around his friends he was known as “Big Floyd”. His family simply called him Perry, Jr.

After moving away to Minneapolis, MN, George found work as a security guard for the Salvation Army and the Congo Latin Bistro. He was in the beginning stages of pursuing a career as a truck driver when his life was cut short on May 25, 2020.

George enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was known to brighten a room when he entered. His broad smile and contagious laughter would make everyone around feel better about whatever they were going through on that day.

He was passionate about bringing change in the community by supporting positive causes and giving of his time and energy to see that no one went without their needs being met. A devoted father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, relative, and friend, George Floyd will forever be remembered for uniting the world in a cry for change, through the sacrifice of his life.
